YANKEE PEDDLER FESTIVAL

Well, it has been a while since I've written anything on here, but I thought it was time to start again. Its always fun to blog when you are on vacation and have exciting things to post, but then I got back home and it was back to the grindstone again. So, I didn't really have anything real fun going on.
I did go to Yankee Peddler Festival yesterday (9/20/08) and had a lot of fun. Its a festival that is set back in the 18th century and all the crafts are supposed to be from that period of time or at least could have been made during that period. There is no electricity allowed to the booths and most of the demenstrators are using foot-peddled jigsaws or lathes, or something like that. The food is cooked over the open fire in kettles or on grills. There are soldiers and mountain men living in teepees and tents here and there. Just a lot of fun!!

Its fun to go to these kind of festivals and really feel that you have stepped back in time where things were a little more simple. I'm sure life was very hard then, but still a little more slow paced and less complicated.

There are crafts, furniture, art, and every type of handmade thing you can imagine!!

Under this bridge there used to be someone dressed like a troll that would yell and jump out at you, then would give you a ring made from a square nail. As a kid, I was a little afraid of him, but its a good memory now looking back on it. He isn't there anymore, but there is still a sign on the bridge that says "Beware of the Troll!"

Monica J. Hardy is from Scotland and always interesting to talk to. She weaves beautiful wraps, scarves and blankets! Absolutely beautiful!!
Bosewell's Beanery is a great booth to stop by and sample all kinds of dips and barbeque sauces, pie and custard mixes, etc. Yummy stuff!

I love the grilled chicken sandwiches that they make here! :) They are just simple sandwiches, but there is just something about freshly grilled chicken at a festival like this! I have always headed straight to this booth to get a sandwich!! :) Then later, I go to their other booth and get another so they won't think I'm a piggy! :)
